Health Education England (HEE) and the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) are pleased to announce the launch of the first Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) scheme competition.

The scheme supports early career researchers who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and clinical development. Applicants must belong to one of the eligible professions

The PCAF scheme funds:

  • Personalised programmes of academic training that will equip award holders with the skills and experience to access doctoral level funding
  • Dedicated time to prepare an application for a competitive, peer-reviewed doctoral level research training fellowship.

The Fellowship is a two year awards (or can be taken up part-time over 30 or 40 months).

Award holders split their time equally between their clinical position and the training and development funded through the award.

The competition closes at 1pm on Wednesday 11 April 2018.
